Grounding probe

I am new to stingrays and this site. I have been researching for about a year now on how to keep rays. I came across a thread about a grounding probe to neutral out the tank water charge. I was wondering from if it was true or a myth!

If your tank has "stray current" adding a ground probe will also add current to the tank. Do not use unless with a GFCI protected outlet. If there is faulty equipment the GFCI will trip and the equipment will need be removed.

I've always ran them on sw tanks, there is stray voltage in every tank and with a proper grounding probe it helps.
