I am looking for a type of fish that will breed in group/colony, like 1 male and 2-5 females. I would prefer them to be mouth brooders, and around 1-4 inches; 6 inch would be okay. Thanks for the help.

I tried searching on here and google, but there was not much info.

Based off of your listings, I would say that you are only limited to african cichlids. A very nice one if you can find them would be Haplochromis sp. ruby green. ;) You should be able to find some since they aren't that rare.

Pretty much any of the mbuna cichlids fit into your description, most of them between 4 and 6 inches but a lot of them are very common, very colorful, and not too expensive.

Saulosi are group mouth brooders around 3.5 inches.
