When I got out of fish keeping 12 years ago I decided if I ever get back into it I wanted to raise a male Jag. About 3 months ago I decided to start back up. I got the tank out of storage and set it up and started to cycle it. My first thought was to stick P. Managuensis in it. My large tanks only 85 gallons. After thinking about it I realized I didnt want to have just one fish and the need to upgrade to a larger tank later on so I passed on the jaguar idea. Well one month later I found myself buying a 150 gallon tank. So now that I have the 85 and 150 tanks I decided to look at the jaguar again. Long story short I walked into the lfs a couple weeks ago and they had five jaguars. I bought all five in hopes of growing out a nice male and selling off the other four if they dont pick each other off before I can see which is looking like the best one. Heres some pics of my group of hooligans. Sry for the glare my fish room has allot of natural light from different angles.

3 month progress update on the hooligans. Heres a few pics of the Jag I kept out of the 5 I started with. Hes 5.5” - 6” at this point. Kinda hard to measure without removing him from the tank. You cant see it much in these pics but hes got some iridescent gold and some light purple colors when hes in the right light. I think hes coming along nicely.

6 Month update. The largest and dominate hooligan is coming along well and is 7" - 7.5" at this point. I think hes going to be a real bruiser. Pics and video dont do him justice for his color. He has some really nice gold and purple hues when the light hits him good. So far hes growing 1" or more a month and starting to get some real personality. Heres a couple short videos showing him off a little.

This is a real quick video I grabbed on my phone while I was feeding him so its a little shaky. I dropped a krill on the surface of the water and he came up to grab it. He hits the water pretty hard sometimes so im hoping to set up my video camera to get some good video of him feeding some day.

10 month update. He went thru a phase of not eating and made me think he had some parasites. I did some mild treatment for a couple weeks just to be sure he didnt have any problems. Hes been doing good but he has been picky about what he wants to eat. I cant wait to get him moved to the 300 gallon tank im getting ready to setup. Heres a few pics from today.

I never gave him a name. Any suggestions? Hes turning into a really nice fish and hes getting more attitude by the day. I think the 300 gallon tank will really let him turn into the beast jags can be.

That, in my opinion, is a perfect looking jaguar. ????
