Happy new year to all of you. I just bought some
plants for my 125. I'm using the EI system, have light of 4 watts per gal, and
plants only with the exception of a large clown loach that outgrew my other
tanks but he's worth his worth his weight in gold. I have another 55 planted
tank that is growing perfectly, in fact I took some anibus from it. I also have
a pressurized C02 system. My question is what do you think about hours of light
needed lighting and amopunt of ferts to add? I've been doubling the ferts of my
55 for now and running lights for 10 hrs. No algae as of this point. It's been
running for 2-3 weeks at this point. My ph ranges from 8.0 with no c02 and
around 7.5 with C02 measured with dropchecker. I wish I could go lower with the
ph but when it gets to 7.3 the drop-checker is almost yellow. I plan to buy some
adult Discus juves for my 55 and 75 bare-bottoms but eventually plan on grabbing
5-6 to add to the 125. I know thats to much light but I can do one of 2 things i
think will work; add floating plants to top or reduce the light output. These
discus won't be added for at least 6 months but I'd like to get this ready for
them. I'm also hoping to breed them in the other tanks which will allow me to
pick which ones I want to put in 125 and sell the others after hanging on to the
pairs. Any info you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks I'm attaching
a couple photo's below. One last question, Could I add sand now over the
eco-complete now? Also I spread the hairgrass into smaller sections and moved it
all to the right side of the tank which will make it a great swimming area for
discus with some hiding places for them in the plants on right or driftwood on
left. The anibus will be fully grown out by then.
