I have a 300 gallon tank with only 3 motoro rays. The biggest being about 11 inches across. I won a raffle for a 3" jardini arowana yesterday and with the size of the rays I am worried they will eat him so I need to grow him out. What is the best way to get him to 8" or so? What size tank/container would work best?
Thanks

Are you suggesting I can put him right in? As long as I feed him stuff that floats? Thanks

I have 2 ideas (cause Ive done both). I would feed the stingrays first and then put the arowana in. You could also give the arowana a place to hide.(some plants or rocks) Or if you have the time you can put the arowana in a plastic bag and float him see if the stingrays are even interested, that way you can remove the arowana if you change your mind. With the larger stingray being 11" I wouldnt worry but I dont know the temperament of the stingrays.(if they are aggressive or not that could be the difference too)

jardini is gonna make a nice snack at that small size...if you don't have a grow out tank, try to partition part of the tank off with egg crate until it gets some size and can hold its own with the rays..

Here is my plan.... Going in a 30 gallon. I can monitor it's food easier and make sure he is doing well. After a couple weeks to a month depending of growth I am going to move it to a stock tank I think 300 gallon is the size it is very large. After it gets to a good size that it cannot be ate by the rays it will go in the 300 gallon display tank.
