hey guys

right well i have my 120 gallon in house show tank and have always had a little 40 gallon outside in the garage as my hospital tank.

the other day i purchased 6 pbass oscillaris and a red tail giant gourami only small obviously just about out of fryhood lol, so i did away with the little 40 gallon and replaced it with a 5x2x2 lol which is bigger than my in house tank, i hate that its outside but i have nowhere to put it indoors. they look like dots in that tank lol, they are also in with texas fry which i bred.

my qusetion is how to get the best growth out of them all and the best way to run a grow out tank.

i obviously know the basics like regular water changes, keeping them well fed, mixed diet etc

is there anything else i can do?

types of food etc.

any advice welcomed thanks for your time

live food is the best way to boost growth...that is assuming you raise your own and gut load them.

use your 40 to raise feeders and make sure to feed your feeders all sorts of healthy stuff.

then just follow these steps:

1. Feed ALOT

2. Filter ALOT

3. Do Water Changes ALOT

thats the recipe for quick growth. But it takes extra work

I would add, keep the meals small and numerous. Also, keeping the tank a bit warmer than usual will help increase their metabolism and therefore growth.

thanks guys i knew i was on the right track

any ideas on growth rates of the little critters im raising

obviously the gg will grow quick
as will the pb i guess

but my texas seem to be real slow burners is that usual cant find much info of texas growth around

Tex's grow very slowly.

yea higher temps and what i mentioned and you will be on your way to some big ole fish
