Finally getting back in to cichla. Picked these guys up for $6 each. Couldn't say no. 3 more on the way. Currently only about 1" long.

Also they were only labeled as "peacock bass", so it'll be fun to see what they turn out to be.

Don't be getting my hopes up now... Monos are my second favorite (behind xingu). I would be so happy!

Of course, first I have to get them eating. Had em for 3 days now, and they associate me and the lids opening with food, but they won't take what I've given them. Frozen Blood worms, hikari gold, massivore.

Quick update. Caught them eating blood worms finally. I was dropping in a bit and wasn't sure if they were disappearing to random parts of the tank or they were getting eaten. Turns out the latter. They're still pretty skiddish when the garage lights are on, but they seem to be okay with me staring at them with the garage light off and tank light on.

1.5" and already loving their personality!

well their mono's. I just picked 6 orino's and 2 mono's up. Try small broken up pieces of fd krill. They should take to it

So the original 3 have been lost. But picked up these 5 today.

How long did the original 3 last? Too bad they didn't make it.

About a week or two. It was actually my fault they were lost. I added two long fin oscars that were only an inch bigger. Well the oscars killed the bass... I learned my lesson. :/
