If you're feeding it well and with optimal water conditions I'd say about 0.5 - 1" a month. Comprable to an oscar. But jags stay thinner and longer than O's. Mine seems to be slowing down a bit now though. Jags have great personalities. I love em. Sorry about the crappy quality of the picture. Off my phone

And I'm getting him into the habit of eating pellets but I normally feed him lake minnows

If you're going to be keeping him with smaller cichlids etc. Try and get him off live minnows. They're mouth opens up bigger than ya think. I was really surprised

If you want to grow him fast, try carnivore pellets, followed by massivore pellets when he gets big enough. You may be happier though not trying to force it to grow fast. Supposedly, making them grow fast shortens their life span.
