I just acquired a juvie mono that's about 3". I been feeding him guppies and i was wondering what's their growth rate is like. I just want to do some calculation as far as feeding/money goes before i can start converting the bass onto frozen food.

Well I'm pretty much a rook still as far as bass go but i bought orinos and kells about 4 months ago the orinos at1.5inches now the largest is 7 inch. The kells at 3.5 and they are both pushing 7 inches !! And they are supossed to have a much slower growth rate than monos and tems ETC. so that should give you some idea.

tilapia fillet rolled in cichlid gold and live:)

Both my orinos right now and PB in general that I've kept so far usually grow an average of 1" a month. I got the orinos around 3", and now they are both around at 7"-8" (this was probably around 4 months in my tank).

My three azuls, I got around 6", and now all 3 are around 7"-8" (this was probably around 2.5 months in my tank).

My monos and occels in the past, I usually get around 1.5"-2" and grows to around 7"-8" in 5-6 months.

Edit: I feed all my PB:

Once or twice a week as a treat: Raw Shrimp, Night Crawlers
Stable Diet: Hikiri Pellets, Hikiri Sticks

is it possible to convert the small ones, 1-3 inches onto pellets? Mine will not take anything but live bait/fish.

I would recommend frozen krill and silversides cut in similar sized chunks as pellet. and then mixing them. It is much easier when they are in a group. I have had a mono and ocell mised with rapps orino(taking pellet) in a group of 8 and they all started eating everything after two weeks. get them to hit food as it hits the water so they dont look at it if you can.

it's weird but the one i have is from a farm im sure of it. The people at my LFS said they feed them ghost shrimp and frozen bloodworm but the one i got won't take any of those. Im going to get another two , to have a trio and hopefully get them on frozen food soon.

i have monos got them at 2inches now at 14 and 10inches (6months later). I started them on minnows for two weeks to get them settled into the tank then swiched to blood worms and then silversides as a staple, and finally too Cichlid gold. That mono you just got will get huge really fast!
