I have been gone for a few weeks and I left a light on and when I got back there seems to be now 10 gallons of brown moss growing wild? This would be a dream come true if it were green.Any way to make it turn green?
What is this stuff guys?

Is it moss or algae?

I knew it was not moss,I just couldn't resist lol...Anyhow,I'm not sure what you can do but I have heard that the color of the algae indicates the condition or quality of the water in the tank.I'm not sure about that since l thought that algae fed on dissolved substances in the water.

What type of light did you leave on? Old florescent bulbs can cause this.

to make it turn green change the color temp of the light to 6500k unless you have brown algae in which it's just brown

Try adding an air stone.
