I need the opinion of some of you who have a little more experience than myself. My next project is now in motion, but is it a bad plan to start with? am I setting myself up for failure, or a wicked awesome tank?

I would like to grow different species of aro's and discus in the same tank. I right now have only 2 silver dollar size blue discus and a 2" silver aro in my "grow" tank. I would like to move them to a 120 tall and add A red aro and maybe another type, as well as 4 or 6 more discus of differtent colors. :popcorn:
Is this a bad idea? I have seen pictures of both adult fish in the same tank. And I've seen pics of different adult aro's in the same tank. I just think the tank would come out awesome if it all went to plan. I know, nothing ever goes to plan.....

Any advice would be helpful.. Thank you for your time.

What kind of filtration are you going to have?
what is the dimension of the tank?
Any plans of upgrading the tank once the silvers outgrow your 120?

Lastly I thought you're outside the USA until I saw your location, sadly we can't get any asian aros here so a red aro is a no go.

when the silvers get big they will start eating your discus:{The silver arowana will out grow a 120 in a blink of your eye:{

just make sure the discus are bigger than the aro's head. you should be fine with that tank for over a little year.

I do plan on upgrading the tank, once I need to. And giving each it's own tank. But I thought as a "grow" tank it would be colorful and fun to observe. The 120 is tall. I believe 3ft long like a standard 55, just wider and taller. I dont know exactly. I found I good deal on craigslist.

I can't get a red aro??!!! ..... leagaly...?

Thats very disappointing... :(

The filteration will either be an Aquaclear or I have a canister from my 125. (which has 2 Aquaclear 110's) I have an extra from another tank.

Thank you all for the info. Please add more. As always fishkeeping is a learning experience, and I'd rather not learn the hard way.. Thanks. MFK Rules!

I have a few videos of my tanks at You Tube under Warrendafish, Thanks!
