If you have a few Oscars juvies from the same batch and one is smaller then the rest. Will that one always be smaller or could that one end up being the biggest one out of the batch??? does there juvie size mean anything??

IME the larger more aggrasive fry stay that way they will always be the better genetic stock than their brothers and sisters in every spawn there is always the top 10 best of the best then a couple hundred standerd fry and then the bottom of the barrel 10-20 fry the runts

IMO that one out of the batch will probably always be a little behind but they grow at different rates because there is competition in their world and the fullest/largest fry is usually the winner of that.

I agree with the other posters to an extent. I also think that there are different factors that affect growth in young fish. If you were to remove the runt and put him in with other fish that are smaller and less aggressive he may start to grow faster and surpass the original batch. I had this happen with my GT. She was big boss in the tank and growing over an inch a month. Then I introduced my JD who was smaller but more dominant and now she is almost 2 inches larger than the GT. I think the fish they are kept with makes a huge difference especially with O's
