Does anyone this that once you introduce live foods into cichlids diet that it begins to boost there confidence? Example, shy jack dempsey and the introduction of earthworms. Noticed a bit of growth and there not shying away when I approach the tank.

There may be some correlation. I don’t feed live, but whenever any of my fish made a meal out of a tankmate it seems like they grow overnight.

Interesting topic. On paper live food wouldn't offer anything more than quality pellets.

In a scenario where food is old or lacks any particular micro nutrient would hold back fish's growth and feasting on tank mate might solve that.

Just curious, what were you feeding to fish that grew significantly after eating a neighbor?

Pellets. Hikari bio gold. Since then I've switched to omega one flakes and northfin 3mm pellets with bloodworms/earthworms here and there

Quick question. Do you just get earthworms from the ground and just find them in the dirt or do you culture your own? Is it safe to feed wild EW?

For me it was a red belly piranha and a banded leporinus, both have fast growth rates either way. I fed tetra min flakes and hikari carnivore food sticks.

I just go to a fishing department in Walmart or bait shop and buy them. I make sure there just plain worms. Not the ones labeled as nitro worms or worms with green dye in them. I wouldn't get any worms out of my yard or garden because I spray pesticides and use fertilizer . That would be probably toxic to the fish.
