Today is about 7weeks since I picked up a pair of small sen's to grow out and go with my 10-11" dels. been growing them out in a 10g for the past 7 weeks feeding twice daily and doing 80% wc's every 2-3 days to get them growing faster. They were about 2.5"-2.75" when I got them 7 weeks ago.

Now they are probably closer to about 4.5" range and doing well. The one is way bigger than the other far as thickness goes. He grabs food first and has put on about 30% more mass than the other, but the other does eat well, just not a dominate as the bigger one I guess. Short vid of them today..

Then this is the tank they will eventually be going into when they are big enough. I'm thinking once they reach about 6" or a tad bigget I will move them into here. Currently home to a pair of 10-11" dels, a 7" sen, three geos, and a 4" datnoid.

Wow hungry buggers! Looking good!

Wish I could feed and clean so much right now, I'd have monster sens :D

Thanks. yeah the way that one eats and grows I think he may end up being a really big sen if he keeps up the way he is.
I hope so! I'm curious as to the max size of Cb fish, seems variable. And of course my WC has some size to pack on haha.

Mine are sitting on the 6-7" mark now. Only pellets 5-7 times a week though. Can't overfeed :(

What are you feeding?

being in cape town you are just lucky to have fish at all
Definitely! Tanks being sold left, right and centre. Glad I have loads of plants and a bit of know-how :)

What are you feeding?

They were eating 1mm New Life spectrum pellets for the first month, but I started feeding them the Omega One Shrimp pellet/sticks and now they are spoiled and will only eat those. Then I cut up some Sallys whole frozen shrimp once per week and give them a few small pieces of that to give them some meat.

I am currently raising some senegal fry that are around the size you first got yours at 2.5 inch. What I have noticed is the growth rate varies greatly from fish to fish. Although hatched on the same day some are significantly larger than others and some are alot smaller almost stunted in comparison but healthy. My theory is the smaller slower growing sens are male while the larger faster growing sens are female. Also I get concerned with the size differences so I separate my fry who are around 2.5 inch just to be safe. I have two together and one tiny one isolated and one massive one isolated all the same age. Pic is of the monster fry when he was alot younger.
