im gonna try and get a few 1" h. psittacus and growout. i've got an empty 29g. will that work for a while? i'll have my 125g setup in December when i move. it will have an AC70 on it for filtration and bare bottom. i think ill be getting 4 or 5. ill eventually be putting some severum fry in the tank. after a while when the get big enough.

i think with their own kind they can be quite aggressive

AC70 = AC300 doesn't it? If so, that's what I use on my 30 gallon longs, seems to do a good job.

As far as the psittacus, I've never had them before, so my help there is limited. But I've read a lot about them lately. I got the interest when I donated some cichlids to the Newport Aquarium in the Cincinnati area (actually in Newport Kentucky across the Ohio River from where the Reds and Bungles play). The guy that runs the Amazonian display (where my cichlids are going) showed me two new adult psittacus swimming around in there. He seemed excited to have them, and I don't blame him, they look stunning.

They might be ok until December, but I wouldn't add Severums until the 125 is established. They would crowd the 29 I think.

the severums just hatched so im sure by the time i actually have the 29g setup the fry will all be eaten :D i freed up a 10g that i was gonna put them in while they are still small.

if they start fighting i have a few other tanks i could move one or two to.

yes AC70=AC300
