My ornate and Del are in a 45 currently to grow out, but I just saw today some of my del's dorsal finlets looked messed up and i just saw the ornate snap at him a little bit. they're about the same size (3"ish) and need to grow about another inch before going in to the 75. I was wondering If I could put the ornate in a 10 gal for about a month to grow him large enough for the bigger tank. Do you think that stint in the 10 as the only fish would stunt him at all/impede growth with good water quality? I'm selling this guy when he hits about 6-8" and would like for my del to be safe, that REALLY ticked me off when I saw it.

also would corys mess with a little del at all slimecoat and all?

even as a 3" fish with plenty of cover just for a month?

the more i look at him the more i think he could be okay with the bigger sens, i think he's just thick enough the big sen won't eat him, but i'm not 100%..

if you are that worried and the 10gl is all you have at the moment then use it or just see how it pans out, I had problems with my big endli but I rearranged the tank and all is well

I think a 10gal is ok 2 use 2 growout a 3" bichir 4 a short time I've done it and haven't had probs wit it

Well to each his own.
I have over 30 Polypterus ranging from juvis to 50+cm and have and would never use 10gallons to grow out even the smallest of my juvis.
Even my juvi hospital tank is 20gallons!

But it's your fish, your decision.

not gonna stick him in the 10, i accepted ur advice on the first post just wanted to make sure you thought the same way even if it was just for a few weeks

I'm quarantining my two sens in a ten gallon. They are about 3.5-4 inches. They will be there for a month due to my QT requirements. It's unfortunate that yours can't get along :(

wow you are kind of a grump ha. Nothing wrong with keeping a 3 inch birchir in a ten gallon tank for a month. Deem things never move around any ways. And is plenty of room in there.
