Can I keep about 3-4 baby(around 2") dats in my 36x18x18" tank? How long before they will need a upgrade? I heard that Dats are pretty slow growers.

yea they are pretty slow gowers i say mabye till they are 5-6" good luck

You could definitely do that. You'll probably be able to get over a year with that tank...maybe more.

unless youve got some of the magical dats, ive heard of some that grew really fast, like from 2" to a foot in a year. but i dont believe that any dat has ever grown that fast.

I've had my Indos for almost a year and they've grown 1" to 2" They went from a 29g to a 75g
