I am getting a 125 gallon in December, and finishing my 93"x36"x21"tall pond this next spring, and would like to know what imhabitants I can keep in my 55 until I get the 125 and my pond set-up? That will also co-exist with the fish I have in there now.

55 Gallon:
1x 15" Gibby
1x 6" Bluegill
1x 4" Red Dragon FH​

Here are some of the fish I am interested in, I would also like a little info on them and how big they get, prefered diet, temperment, ect.


For the 125 for life:
1x Gibby (Moved from 55)
1x Bluegill (Moved form 55)
1x FH (Moved form 55)
?x Endili (Sp?)
?x Lemon, Albino, Sunshine O's
?x Jag
?x GT
?x JD
?x Royal Panque​

For the 125 until pond is finished:
?x Channel cat
?x Silver or Jar Aro
?x Royal CK

I think that finishes my list. I am not saying I want all these fish, just ideas of what I would like to have. If the fish get even to big for my pond then tell me. If they grow to fast to be out of the 125 by March next year, tell me. Thanks for the input guys. Also if you have any ideas for stock tell me.

I don't think it is a sure bet that the FH will coexist with the jag and some of the others in the 125
 
Like I said, I am not going to go with all these, they are just suggestions, and more help would be appreciated...
 
umm a tsn can get what 4 feet long thats probably not a good option you have a few fish i would question is there any chance that ur going to get a bigger tank in the future? maybe 200 gallons plus?
 
Well, the pond I have is going to be for the larger fish when they grow big enough. I am getting my 125 in December and I wasn't planning on geting really much of anything until I get that tank set-up other than maybe another plec like a small panque. I really would like to know the gallonage for the pond I have, it's 93"x36"x21" tall. I kinda figured the larger cats would be out of the picture, but I thought I would see. The reason for not upgrading more in size tanks is becasue I am 17 ad leaving for college next August, and I really don't want to leave my family home with 4'+ fish to deal with, along with WC and feedings...that's a chore in itself. I am going to college an hour away so I will be able to come home on weekends, but I need fish that can be pretty hardy for the weeks time. Any ideas of where I should go in relating to the 125 and the pond would be apreciated...thanks.
 
I always suggest people stock the tank they currently have only with fish that can happily live in it for life… It is very very common for us to “plan” on bigger tanks in the future and then life getting in the way of that happening.

Since you are in New York State, I take it this is going to be an indoor pond… because keeping an outdoor pond warm enough for the fish you are planning for it will be exceptionally difficult and will cost a fortune…

As I’m sure you are well aware, FlowerHorns are well known to be highly aggressive fish that do not appreciate tank mates. This is an exceptionally poor choice for a community tank such as the 125 gal you are planning.

All in all… it appears to me like you have not done nearly enough research on practical matters…
 
Thank-you for your input, it maybe harsh by some people's standards, butto me, constructive critisism. So, thank-you. Do you think a 125 is good for life for the flowerhorn, because I have taken his aggressivness into consideration, and yes he is 4" now, but in December he is gunna be pushing 9"+ and most likely have assasignated all the fish except the plec in the 55. I see you point and notice now it is best that it be a one fish tank, for the FH. As pertaining to the pond, yes, it will be indoors.
