I have had a small pair of senegal bichirs(2.5") for about 4 months now. The first three months they hardly even grew and I was feeding them different types and brands of pellets. This past month I started feeding thawed market shrimp and they have exploded in size. They are now about 5-6" long and fat. Wondering why they just now had a growth spurt?

WOW;) my albino and delhezi grew like 2 inches in more than a year!

I fed mine pretty much the same diet!

I have recently gotten two baby Bichirs, a delhizi and a senegal. The delhizi I got at about 3-3.5 inches, and has exploded to almost 6 inches, and the senegal I got at 2-2.5 inches, skinny as could be, and now it's about 3.5-4 inches. All in a few months! I fed NLS, silversides, bloodworms, and earthworms.

EDIT: I checked when I got them, I got the senegal 8/31 and the delhizi 9/23.

I got my Del alittle over a year ago maybe 1yr 2months or so. He was 2-3" and is now 10-10.5". Feed Silversides, Krill, earthworms, drawf frogs and beef heart. Just grew like crazy, and you don't notice it right away either. Till one day its like wow its gotten big real quick :WHOA:

i had my ornate last january of this year, it was 3.5 inches back then..
she is now 8.5 inches.. what do you think, is it a decent rate?

@probassfisher
that is crazy how skinny that senegal was but good to see it plump, my sens are even plumper than that, I will need to get picks when I get back to my apartment on Friday
@Troy
I have not tried tilapia yet, I got the frozen shrimp mainly for my retic ray, but soon realized I got too many for just the ray itself and started to feed it to my other fish and their growth rate has increased and all of their colors have become more apparent
