I have a young male dovii that is 3" long. He eats Ken's Basic Growth Flake (47% protein) with vigor. He also likes frozen mysis shrimp and bloodworms on occaision. I'd like to give him more variety of foods without starving him into accepting them. He will eat no other dry food, flake or pelleted, other than the growth flake. I'm thinking of giving him more commercial frozen foods, specifically beefheart, krill, clams, and other foods in addition to the mysis and bloodworms he eats. He will still get the flake food too. I'll probably only feed him beefheart once or twice a week. What do you all think? What has worked for you?

earthworms, krill, beefheart(on occasion), just do plenty of water changes...

Earthworms are great as well as krill, shrimp(the kind you buy at the grocery store raw), brine shrimp, and small live foods like guppys or convict fry, just make sure they are clean and healthy.

I have this young dovii in a 75 gallon tank with a bristlenose pleco. It is filtered with a Penguin 350 and an Emporer 400. I do two, 60% water changes a week right now. I will place this fish in a larger tank down the road, at least a 180 gallon or more.

i belive, cichlid gold, would be great in bringing out colors.and i belive that beef heart a couple times a week would increase growth rapidly.i would also do a 50 percent water change every week.:D
