There's a decent amount in information HERE. Reminds me a of semi-failed research project I attempted in college on the alarm substances secreted from certain fish in the presence of a predator.
 
I only heard of it in relation to Datnoids.

We're on here when I search it (threads & post) nothing really comes up but a couple people mentioning it in there post no real info on it
I first learned about it on simply discus form

Has ties to water quality, availability of disolved oxygen, etc as stress triggers for release.
