Quick question,

If sharks are in a tank that's top small, does their size get stunted or will they keep going until they bust the tank?

Got a friend who's interested in getting a 1ft black tip reef. He's currently got a 10x5x3ft tank and he's looking to upgrade to a pond in a year or two. Could he house the black tip in the tank for that long without it having problems?

He asked me if they get stunted but I said I haven't a clue since I've always kept my bamboo's in a big enough tank from birth. So who better to ask than you guys.

No - tank size wil not stunt a shark's growth.

But if a tank is too small it can affect a shark's health. This is espeially true with ORV requiem sharks. A tank that is too small - for ORV requiem like a BTR can disrupt their swim-glide cycle - which can lead to damaged noses, and possible death.

But a the shark won't stop or slow it's growth rate - because tank that too small

BTW - 10ft x 5ft x 3 ft won't be enough juvenile BTR even for just a year. BTR are born at about 13-16 inches. So that tank - might work for a 3-6 months. But after that the shark will need to be moved into a larger tank/pond.
