i grew this jag out untill i thought he was big enough to go into my large tank, so he was in their for a while and then all of a sudden my med jack d and my larger jag started to attack him very rough so i watched him hide under some drift wood which is the same thing my jd did when he was introduced, he did this for a few hours and then was fine. but the jag almost died. even the clown knife bit at him. dont have any idea what this growth is and what should i do about it. i put the jag into a extra tank i had seems ok but wont eat , its been 2 days

:irked:Holy crap!!! Next time stop it before it gets that bad:irked:.....That being said, add some melafix/salt/bump up the temp to 86. Turn the lights off and leave them off. Try to feed him 1 pellet a day for the next seven days. He should bounce back in 7-10 days.....

Simular thing happened to my Gt when i was at work, Tried my best to save him but lost him in the end

Jeez poor guy took a pounding. How big are the Jack and other jag in question?

melafix and high temp will cure him...that is the only thing bad about cichlids they fight so much and hurt eachother.

Same q as Scuba, how big are the jag & jd??
Its possible they may already establish their territories..
Next time you add new fish, try moving the decor around along w/
a water change..
Good luck, i hope the little guy makes it.

well the jack dempsy is only about 4in and the jag is about 8in the clown about a foot and the jag that took the beating is about 5in, maybe the small jag is a male because i know the big one is, maybe this is the reason he tried to kill it
