Have you tested your water?
Yes
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?

I recently brought home a baby marbled lungfish. He’s been in the new tank for a few weeks, eating small fish and some worms. Today he came out from his hiding place and has an abnormal growth, any help identifying the issue and suggestions for treatment would be greatly appreciated.

Water parameters: 0 ppm nitrites, 0 ppm nitrates, 6.8 pH, water changes every week to two weeks

Looks like a cutaneous cyst. Don’t look infected. Would leave alone and watch it. Might pop or rupture from the decor.

Thank you for the quick reply!

I’ll keep an eye on it. How would I know if it becomes infected? And if it ruptures is there anything I should do?

The area deteriorates. Looks red. Fish starts acting sickly….not swimming around or eating. If ruptures then make sure it’s eating. Usually heals up very well on its own.
