Growth on my IT?

Hi guys recently got my old IT back and when I got him he.had like a red sore after I had moved him into the tank,and now its growing like a cone into a point around 1/4" long,I'm treating the tank with melafix but it seems worse than it was last night,any ideas.what it is and how to get rid,I'm going to try some salt but has anyone else heard or seen anything like this?
Il try and get some pics,and its not the usual zits.

Yes mate,treated with salt with directions from richard at wharf and it cleared up a treat,il try and put pics on of when it was bad too so people can see what it looked like if i can find some.
