How fast did it take from 1" to 3"?

Picking up 7 at 1" tonight and putting them in a 20g grow out. Want to add them to my main tank but they will be a snack at 1".
 
Mine have grown very slow. I have them in a 90 gallon with auto drip system and good food and its been over 6 months.. 1 is finally around 3 inches the others are probably only 2in. I have an 11in altifron in a 400 gallon that has taken about 6 years + to get to that size

I'm debating to put them in a 20g to grow out, or get some egg crate and separate part of my 160g for them to grow out in. Not sure if egg crate has small enough holes though (never used it before) that a 1" geo could get through it or not. The only thing that would eat them in the 160g that I would need egg crate for is I have a 3.5-4" male gold saum in there (he couldn't hang with my 150g SA/CA cichlid tank so had to put him somewhere until I get fully moved in).

Issue is, I just recently moved and my 55g grow out (which is where the gold saum was going to go into ) somehow started to leak and I haven't even began working on a tank setup for my utility room (planning on having 6x40B tank setup).
 
My old red heads grew quickly about 1/2" a month. Some quickly out grew others tho. I have a ton of them now that are 1/2"-3/4" I got last week
