A local store is closing down most of their big tanks, so their trio of roughly 14" peacock bass had been downsized to a 50 gallon corner tank. It's looking far to small. I'm thinking about getting them. To top it off they are also being heavily discounted and are being sold for 80 each. Does this sound about right? They are labeled as lined peacock bass, but this didn't lead me anywhere as far as IDing the species. Looking through the ID thread has me leaning towards temensis. Won't be able to get pictures till monday to confirm this though.

I'm wondering how fast they should grow at this size. They would need to be closer to 20" before they could go in with the gator gars. This leads me to my next question. I have seen alligator gars with peacock bass before, I'm wondering if this is a good combo or not.

I think that combo should work fine. What tank are you putting them in? Just about anything is better than a 50g. If they are nice to you then $80 for any cichla at 14"+ is worth that. Im sure they have eaten more than $80 worth of food each to get to that size. Go get em out of that tiny tank.....OFfer 150 for the trio and tell em they'd be going to a good home.

They would go into my roughly 600 gallon pond, first they would be going into a 120 growout.
well a 120 wouldnt really be a grow out but its better than the 50. Y dont u just throw into the 600 first? not done? 80 bucks is kinda high IMO unless theyre orino or tem and since theyre going out of business u could ask for lower

The pair of 32" gator gars is what is preventing me from putting the bass right in the 600. The store isn't going out of business, they are currently remodeling and have decided to get out of selling big fish, and concentrate on smaller community fish.

Here are some pics of the bass. There colours are a little off from the lighting on the tank at the store. Hopefully I can get an ID, and some info on expected growth.

They are tems, I'd take them for $80. I would prob offer $200 for the trio.

I figured they were tems just wanted to double check before I purchased them. Unfortunately I can't see them budging any more on price. They were originally priced at $200 each, or $180 per bass if you get all three.
