I have the other type of choclate the "cichlasoma" Coryphaenoides. I wish I could get ahold of the Temporalis without having to mail order it. The type I have are very mellow and will stuff themselves silly on feeding time. I have to be careful how much to feed the buggers lol.

My temporalis is about 18 month old and between 6 or 7".

my chocolate cichlid has grown over an inch in the month that ive had him ... he is also the dominant fish and agressive.

Hypselacara temporalis and H. coryphaenoides can reach six inches within their first year, and full size at three to four years old (ten to almost twelve inches), males are bigger than females.

I hope mine grows quickly, I have a little 2" temporalis right now....

He already seems very smart in a cichlid sort of way.

Growth rates directly correspond to the frequency of water changes, besides the obvious feeding, and stocking rates. Or to put it another way, the less you do partial water changes the slower they will grow, especially if they are crowded.
