I've got a Ramshorn snail, yes, the apple snail not the pond pest, in a two gallon glass bowl with crushed shell/coral gravel from an old S/W setup, a heater at about 78º and a ghetto filter. The lid is a precisely constructed piece of acrylic to prevent escape and allow air movement. My readings tell me everything is pretty much ideal for the little guy, who is now about 1/4" and feeding voraciously on the piece of carrot and carnivore pellet I've given him. I'm wondering about how fast he will grow. I know there are variables, but are we talking months or years before he hits the two inch mark? I'll seed the filter in another day or so, once a little ammonia actually exists for the bb to eat. Anybody have experience with growth rates on a solo Ramshorn?
