Whats the growth rate of common wolfs h. malculatus (I know spelling is butchered)? Fish I am thinking of getting is about 5-6 inches.

Thinking of getting one for a 110g, but footprint is the same as a 75g. Seeing how long until I have to get a bigger footprint for him.

Also the red hi fin wolf, how big do they normally get and in what amount of time?

Thanks

-Richie

Most common wolves will grow on the average about 1in-1.5in a month until 12in, then it slows down. So that tank would work for a long time, but around the 14in and up mark an adult wolf would need a true 120 gallon to live comfortably. Red Hi-Fin wolves grow much slower and only get to about 8 to 9in in captivity.

well said.

as for rainbow wolves, expect less than an inch per month until about 6 inches.
even slower then.
they get to 8 inches usually.

I bought my common in April I believe and it was 4" when I received him. He has grown slower then most and is at 8 3/4" right now. So about .5" or a little more a month for me.

My red wolf was 3.5" - 4" when I bought him.. sometime around April or May and now he is 6.5"+ so a little less then .5" a month on him.

It all boils down to their genetics and environment they are growing in.

:iagree:
my 3 old wolves all got 2 inches a month when they were the only ones in the tank, hence no competition for food.
then when i put them with the barras, african aro etc. their growth slowed dramatically to 0.5 inches per month.
