if i remember correctly, i read somewhere on this board that said GT's are slow growers..is this true? How long does it take them to grow maybe an inch for juveniles?

I can not give you an accurate inch per month because i never paid that much attention. But I would say they are slightly faster than jack dempseys and a bit slower than jags. Some where right in the middle of those two. They will grow in girth a lot faster than length IME.

well i have had myne for a while and they take for ever to grow....i guess you could say that they are slow growers, when i got my two they wher to inches and they are about 3 know and its been like 3 months..the jags that i have already bet them and they were an inch when i got them and that was like a month ago.

I've had my male wild GT for 1 year...and it's only 6"...I got it when it was 3.5"....I dunno why it's so slow at growing...all my other fish grow fine....

Try taking pictures of them, a lot of times they are growing more than you really think they are but since you see them everyday you don't realize it. Just take a few pics with some reference for size and then in a month pull the pics out and check, you'll see more growth than you think. I've had my JD for a year now and he's 6", got him when he was 2.5, so they do grow slow, but you'll never realize it until you compare how they did look.

I have had a few and grew them all up for 1" to a show winner (RIP) The norm is. They are slow growing until the reach 3/4", when their growth rate accelerates.I found feeding them every day on a varied diet i feed my one lots of live food. I have been told "The males' growth rate was around 4 times that of the female" How true the last statement is i cant tell you as i have always had Males

i had mine for about a year and a half........it grew very slowly the first 4 months.......then started growing he was about 4 inches and slowed down again..........
