I have a jar arrow I bought at 3in along with a silver arrow at 4in, but the silver is growing right before my eyes but the jar does not seems to be growing, to the point that the silver has almost double in size over the jar. Just tonight the silver went for a small guppy and because the jar was near, accidentally missed the guppy and had the Jar by the head for a brief second.. Is it time to split the two due to sloqw growth of Jardini arrowans

not needed....
over feed your jar with fresh Fish, Not meat(fish has more protien content with very low fat)so this would not cause drop eye....
N once jar becomes 12",it becomes a serial killer n real aggressive, by that time silver will be even bigger.since silver will be bigger than jar n Jar is super aggressive everything shud be alri8:)

Diet doesn't affect DE. There is no proven theory/reason. Not all Jardini will be serial killer and aggressive. ;) IME, Jardinis grow pretty fast if provided sufficient space, good water quality and varied diet and do regular waterchanges.

I am power feeding them with guppies, minnows and blood worms daily. I keep at least 50 guppies in there at all time, and blood worms cubes twice a day, and doing 30% water changes of a 55 gallon. Again i can see the silver growing but the Jar is starting to look like a guppy compared to the silver...

Jars and Silvers both grow at a pretty good rate but silvers (IMO) grow faster. I've had my baby jar for about a year. I bought him at around 3"-4" and he's now around 11". The silver I just lost due to a freak out was 6"-7" 6 months ago and was 15" or so when he died last week.
Jars and silvers aren't always the best combo but can work together.

Good luck,
Chris

I actually am planning to add 1 more silver and 1 blk arro also

Same problem Jar's are extremely slow growers... i wouldnt worry about the silver eating him tho imo. Whats the size difference? can u post a pic?

My jardini gets fed daily ive had it for over a year have seen maybe 4 inche growth

Need to regulate the silvers diet and power feed the jar. Silvers are gluttons and will eat as much as they can with no control. The result of this is you can see silvers grow as much as 3" per month.

You better be prepared to house multiple arowana in separate tanks if you are going to attempt an aro community. Arowana communities are difficult to keep successfully. Be prepared and don't try to pull off just relying on luck.

4" growth ?? Within a year?
I remember getting my Jardini @ 2" and within 9-10 months my jar was at 19.5-20"... Suggestion, power feed a variety of foods, WC, and a big tank.

Maybe I have a runt or something, lol
