Hey , im just wonderin does anyone know how fast TSN grows? i have him with a Micro snakehead and the snakehead seems to be growing faster . could be beacsue hes eating more but im not sure. they were about same size when i got them.
all three of my tsn hit at least 20" in their first year from 2.5". One hit 25" though. Some tsn if there is competition for food may not get enough food for a decent growth rate. Usually though they will take charge and steal food from other fish if they are not getting as much as they want.
he does eat , cuz hes stummick is all fat up now does the bigger ones scare as easy as the small one? when i had my RTC he wasnt scared at all , maybe its diffrent with TSN >_> ?

My tsn are all hand fed, and are not skittish at all. WHen you put your hand in the water they are all around it mouthing it, and rubbing on you like a kitten. I handfeed and pet all my large catfish. My channel catfish is even comming around, and next to my id, and imperial sharks mine is very skittish.
Also remember mine are in ponds. This is a more natural setting for the fish and when you approach them they are more calm than they might be in an otherwise smaller tank open on all sides. They are naturally a little jumpy when small, but I find that goes away usually when they are from 14-22". Even my big 38" hybrid is a little jumpy when I suprise him, but most of the time they are all mellow.
also handfeeding can take a long time, or a short time depending on how use your fish is to you. I have never hand fed a tsn in an aquarium, but have handfed all of them in my pond. I think they are more comfortable knowing their limits. You might try painting the back of your tank and sides black. I saw that my tsn when in aquariums usually run into the front or sides of the tanks but never the back because it's against a wall and they see it when frightened, but with clear glass it's just like a bird. Bump, bump.
