In my experience (wherein I've never personally grown either a jur or tig to over 1'), tigs and jurs grow with more or less the same rate.

After losing my tig I wanted another cat but not just a replacement
I got a 6" juru the other day which will probably take a year before it's ready to go in the big tank
But large juru are near impossible to find
Sorry, I was playfully curt. I meant that you know the tig growth better than most of us.
I remember all too well the recent heartbreaking loss of your tig to mussel and that you have been looking to take a shot at a jur now.
I'd think large jurs are as hard to find as large tigs, at least here. How about the UK?

Theres very few adult jurs even on youtube theres a nice flash jar ive seen that was large.i think its a great challenge for you after losing your tig to see what comes off it.good luck with him it will be very special to grow one into a large specimen. what do you have it feeding on?
I don't know if he ships to you but John from ECZS brings in big ones every so often. Prices are not bad either.
I have one just got it
I had a 12" one but sold it as wasn't that happy with the stripes and if I'm going to grow one and keep one I have to be 100% happy
I know have a 6" that looks like a tig but much wider stripes
I have only had it 2 days so not sure what it's eating yet
I'm putting a few pellets and krill
I can leave food in over night as it's connected to my main system
See how it goes
Well I had a 10" juruense for a few months but it wouldn't eat pellets and I wasn't happy with the stripes
I now have a 6" I have had 3 weeks it loves pellets and has grown over a inch
