I recently purchased two Viejas from Tangled Up In Cichlids. The first one is a male Vieja Argentea at about 4". The second one is a male Vieja Regani at about 3.5". Both have been sexed by Jeff Rapps. They are in a 100g tank.

The questions I have are, at their respective lengths, how old do you guys think they are?

And, what kind of growth rate should I expect to see with them?

Thanks,
B

I have not raised those types, but I have raised Vieja Snyps, Vieja Maculida, and Vieja Boucourti and I noticed that at fry-2inches....its quite slow. Then at 2-4inches, their growth is usually pretty fast. Fast meaning you will notice growth differences every month. Then at 5 inches on...its slow again.

Just my experience.

my only experience is with the argentea. I can tell you mine started in a 30g at about 1 inch. grew him to about 5'' before putting him in my 180g. Now he is about 9'' and i would say in total i have had him about 1.5-2 yrs

woops...didnt mean to include the "vieja bocourtii." They are her. boucourti anyways. sorry.
