growth rates

Hello I got a pr of baby (13-15cm cm disk) motoro's a month or so ago , the female is almost double the size of the male , is this normal?

They are in separate tanks on the same system , both fed the same amount of food.

The male was "skinny" when i got them around the tail area....
I just want to know if it's normal for males to grow slower than the females , or if I have a dodgy male.

oh.. they where almost the same size when I brought them.

My Motoro male grows slower than the females, my Hystrix male is growing at exactly the same rate as his girl. If he eats the same amount, prolly want to check his feces for parasites or treat with Prazi just to be sure.

Female Rays almost always grow faster than males

Thanks for the replys , the wholesaler I got them off knows zero about them!

most of my males and females grow the same speed until about 14" then the males slow down and the females keep going

funny enough, my male outgrew my female. they started with her being slightly bigger. i often wonder if he is a hybrid, that might explain the size difference.

Bugger so we have a few people saying it's normal and a few saying the females grow faster......

when they are young it really depends on what one is the better eater, but when they get bigger females are larger.
