So my fiancee decided to mess with the lizards night before last and one of the little... guys escaped. I didn't find him till I came home and saw my cat cornered by a tailless lizard hissing at it (the lizard was hissing, not the cat. The cat looked terrified, actually). Took me an hour to find the tail, that wasn't fun.

First time I've had a lizard's tail drop, anything special I should do?

So annoying, this one had a beautiful tail.

That sucks man, sorry to hear that. You can clean the wound with warm water and treat it as you would with a cut. Put a little Neosporin on it and it should be fine. My oldest female LG lost her tail years ago but it grew back pretty well. It's just less textured and usually bulbous shaped. Make sure she eats well and is hydrated now that she lost her fat reserve.

Yeah, I figured she would need bumped up nutrition for a while. I'm laying off crix for a while and switching to every day/ every other day adult meal worms with a little extra calcium added.

It's just a leopard gecko, btw. I'm mad because I made the purchase before I knew much about lizards so one of them had already dropped a tail (it's very bulbous and not so pretty). The girl that just lost hers had a very nice tail. Oh well, just another 7-8 years until they die and I can start over... (just kidding, they're way to cool for me to look at them like that).

On a side note, it's very odd because mine act more like my cats behavior wise than most people report of leopard geckos. My cats will sit over the cage and they will get nose to nose through the screen and just sit there. They're always out while we are and other things like that.

The lizard looks ridiculous with no tale by the way.

My Beardie beggs to disagree! Tail-less is smexy!

but I hope your leopards tail grows back well! My Beardies never will, and I love her this way.
