It's been a long time since I've bough a fish on impulse and it looks like it's bitten me in the @ss. I picked up a colorful little tiger loach (Syncrossus helodes, which I had mistakenly IDed as Syncrossus berdmorei at the store). I seemed to recall they could be a little aggressive, but I watched him at the store for almost 15mins and he didn't seem to be bothering any of the other fish in the tank, and I figured since the rest of my fish were much bigger it would probably work out.

Well, after a day of settling into the tank, this guy is relentlessly chasing around my smallest clowns (which are still a lot bigger than him) and has even attempted to chase some that are at least 5 times his size. He's quite possibly the most fearless and aggressive fish I've ever owned.

I'm going to give it another day or two to see if he settles down but if not I'm going to have to try to net him out (which I anticipate is going to be a royal pain).

So, lesson learned: tiger loaches really are as mean as people say.

Funnily enough, there were some skunk loaches in the tank next to his at the store and my wife really liked them but I said "no, apparently those guys can be really mean":duh:

Tiger Loaches are communal, If you were able to buy 6 of them, they would concentrate their antics to eachother instead of your other fish. They get big though, and few people can comfortably house a school of full grown tiger loaches.
