My green spotted puffer is still young enough to do well in brackish water, but I've been wondering what I can do for Puffer's tank once he goes full marine. I really like tanks that look natural.

I've never raised corals or used live rock or anything like that before. What would he do well with??

Much thanks :D

you can start by adding limestone or coral rock to your tank, when you do switch full marine, it will already be cultured with beneficial bacteria, and will serve as your 'live rock'. If you want the typical 'live rock' flora and fauna, just buy a small piece, and the microfauna will colonize the 'bare' rock. A powerhead and a mechanical filter, coupled with regular water changes, would be fine.

Puffers generally will attack/eat any motile invertebrates in a marine system, but certain innocuous corals, such as mushroom corals and star polyps, may be left alone. Other than that, I would definitely say fish only, and make sure his tankmates are larger than his mouth! Other than that, they are fin- and body-nippers.
