Is it possible for GTs and Blue Acara to cross breed?

My female acara laid eggs 3 days ago and many are still there, and you can see a tiny black dot on them now so I am 99% they are fertile.

Fish in the tank: 7" GT, Firemouth, a convict pair (who breed), 5" Jaguar (growing him out).

No fish is what I could def say is helping guard eggs. I've seen the GT try courting with th Acara so thats the only thing I can think of.

eek, I may have created a monster!

Last thing I want is to create a suffering hybid, but a mini GT would be so cool. Like a Blue Acara with the extra colour.

a lfs owner did it i had one at 2 inch it had unbelievable colour for its size except missed the orange strip on the tail but mine got eaten bye a jag that grew a bit quick for the poor thing.
but u must not let them get to the public coz most ppl cant tell the difference and after i had a word the the lfs owner used the rest as barra food

Anyone got any pics?

yeah im starting to think its possible or even kinda common ... my juvie blue acara's tail is starting to color up like a GT gold saum ... and it has the horizontal speckling like a GT too .. but face, body, vertical bars, and dorsal fin of a blue acara :screwy:

sounds like one! a lot of noobs cant tell the difference so wen they buy em an breed they think they have done good but all it dose is reck it for the actual athusiastic fish keepers. dont get me wrong im all for hybrids but take the responsibility to not let them get into the public
