This has probably been asked a bunch of times already, but here goes. I have a GT in one 55gal and a Butti in the other 55. They are both outgrowing their tanks, so I bought a 150 gal. The GT is about 5-6" and the Butti is 7-8". What are the odds of the Butti not killing the GT in a 150 gal. They have never been together in the same tank. Right now the Butti is in a tank with some mbunas that are about 4" and he doesn't bother them.

theres a good chance the butti WILL turn but if you want to risk it your risk

Butti are vicious ive never seen a nice one. Why not sell your 55's and get a 75-90 for the GT and just leave the butti to himself. Or atleast leave the 55 up just incase

I agree, this is a great idea:headbang2

I read a post yesterday where a guy showed a pic of a 17" buttikoferi

I also thought they only got to 12 inches. Guess we were wrong. They're ba$tards too, at least the one I had was

If I were you I'd use one of the 55's to grow out a tankmate for your butti before selling noth tanks. Not sure what kind of fish it would be (female festae maybe?) but I bet you could keep another fish with him in a 150, if its long enough. Might want to consider it anyway

Good luck

The butti will most likely trash the gt it may work for a little while but there's no way i see this being a life long set up.

The GT will be okay in a 55, but not a butti. Theres a 17 incher on the "biggest CA/SA cichlid on MFK" thread. Its a beast.
