I have a breeding pair of Gts. The male has recently beat the crap out of the female. He atr her tail (almost to a nub) and half of one pectoral fin. I guess its because he ants to breed and she doesnt.

Any ideas as to why and how to keep it from happening again.

Also, any advice on helping her heal (she is already in a different tank.

thanks for the help and advise!

Lol, those GT males can be nasty eh?

Keep the lights off on her tank, add some salt. Just keep the water clean and as low stress as you can make her. She'll be fine.

does anyone think that there is a chance for fin rot?

if her tail is all the way back to the nub im not sure if it would grow back...

Yeah, unfortunately it may not. Got pix? It may be time to keep your eyes open for another female to take her place.
My male alternates bet 2 females. This may give her the break she needs to recover between spawns.

thanks, i was thinking about adding another female, but was worried about the size of the tank (55g). I will try to get some pics up tonight.
