GT finally eating

my gt's been eating last couple of days FINALLY after having him for about 5-6 weeks (more and more each day)... i was a bit worried as he is pale as pale with crap colour, but i wanted to see if i could change that before i would have to part with him. hopefully in the next couple of weeks he will darken/fatten up a bit (fingers cross). im gonna take a photo of what he looks like now and in a few weeks time...

check your water quality, GTs are obsessed with food

my water quality is fine... always has been, the previous owner must have treated him poorly he looked like crap when i picked him up.

Mine did the same thing for the longest time. I think it had internal parasites. Eats fine now though.

Good to hear you got it to eat.


GTs are more prone to getting sick/white stringy poo than any other cichlids I have kept. When that happens I usually treat them with Jungle's parasite clear medications.

If it's the fish in your avatar, that one looks female, which would explain why it doesn't have the best color.

it's hard to find females with really really nice color.

no its not the fish in my avitar.. the fish i am talking about is a male about 6-7 inches, pretty good if u can sex that fish at its size too it was under 2 inches at the time
