Of the six fry I saved from Greenie and Olivers may spawn I still have five.
One of the five has not been growing. The other four are about twice it's size. I know it's just a matter of time before I'm down to four.
They are around 1/2in total length. They have some marking showing up and just a hint of color when the light hits them.
I'm so excited they have made it this far! They eat like champs and are very active.
Yesterday I even saw two of the big ones body slapping and fighting a bit over a piece of pellet. It was so crazy to see such little fish behaving that way.

Bellow is the dominant one of the group. Nice and fat from just being fed. Haha

Same fish pictured above. You can see some of the color coming in. I'll be stoked if they can color up by 1in. 20170607_102135 (1).jpg

The dominant fish and the one it had been fighting with.

Here you can see the little one that hasn't grown. I'm pretty sure it's the one that got stuck between the breeder net and glass. Maybe that was enough to do permanent damage?

I'll be updating as they grow out. I really want to keep them till they hit 2in, but it will depend on how long they can get along. If they get too aggressive I'll sell them off sooner and might just keep one to grow out a bit more.

Great job raising them and quite an accomplishment when raising fry.☺

Right on! I had about 6 fry from Laia & Bruce's second spawn that lasted a month in the main tank and got to about half an inch as well.

They finally disappeared a couple days before L & B spawned again.

I don't think L or B ate them, but when their protectiveness waned I'm pretty sure the Hoplo catfish got them.

Laia has about 500 wigglers in a pit at the moment. They'll probably be free swimming today or tomorrow.

I'm curious to see how long it takes your fry to get to 1 inch. I think if mine ever make it to 1 inch in the main tank they will probably make it to sellable size.

I'll get around to setting up a grow out tank this summer, I hope.

Until then I'll keep an eye on this thread!

DarylMac DarylMac That's sad:/ Hopefully more make it this time around. If you decide to grow some out keep us updated!

I'm curious how long it will take too. They do seem to be growing faster since they started eating the same foods I feed their parents. The little bugs in the tank only lasted a couples weeks before they ate every last one.
They are a month old right now, so maybe they will be an inch by June?
