So I found a male GT of similar size for my female (most of you have suggested it's a female) and introduced it yesterday. My "female" began quivering and shaking for the new fish immediately (not sure if it was sizing it up or courting with it). This morning I woke up to find the new GT was shredded and lifeless. My questions: Is this type of behavior normal for a male or female GT? I know the males usually quiver and shake to try to impress the females, but not the other way around. Could my GT possibly be a short body GT? I know he/she is very plump and round. Here is a recent shot.

Defa female, doesnt look shortbodied but nice and plump. The old female was probs just showing her dominence. The gt in my avatar is my shortbodied female.

Females will often shake at males too. Its not always the one way. Your female was just establishing dominance. Did you re-arrange the tank before adding the new entry? Because it is likely your female was just protecting her area.
