She's got the white poop and skinny as a rail but still very active. I have her in a hospital tank and have treated the water a couple of times (Tetra Parasite Tabs) but no change. Should I try to force feed her, if so with what? I have no experience treating sick fish but would like to save her if I can. None of her former tank mates were infected.

Back from the dead. After at least two months (maybe three) without food and five minutes or more on the floor (I overfilled the tank and she jumped), she's eating everything I throw in the tank! I came close to putting her down. The only thing that saved her was my laziness. I wish I could say what cured her. I treated the tank with salt and Tetra Parasite about six times. Tough little fish!

Just thought I'd share.

glad she made it. it sounds like the Tetra Parasiteguard finally worked after six doses....How many days did you do each treatment?

GTs are prone to bacteria in the digestive tract that is often confused with IPs. They should be feed a diet that is higher in vegatable matter and lower in meat protein this especially true when young. NLS Thera A+ and the regular cichlid formula is good for them along with Omega One Super Veggie Pellets. Their digestive system is more akin to that or mbuna. Great news I'm happy to hear it's doing better.

The first doses of Tetra Parasite were about 48 hours apart. Then about once a week between water changes. I'm feeding Hikari Gold. Tried NLS but she just spits it out. I'll keep trying it but for now, I'm just glad she's eating anything. Thanks for the diet tip. I wish I'd known that sooner. I'm a novice. I hope she returns to the spunky little fish that she was.
