i moved my GT into a 20g high tank. i know what you are all thinking. but he is only about 3-4" right now and even tho he thinks he rules my other tank with my JD and RD. his fins keep getting torn up. i figure he can stay in the 20g for atleast a month or two, so he can heal up and grow a little. but i have a question....my 20g has a few plants...nothing dense but just a few. will my GT tear these up for food or fun?

Guys in need some help! im acclimating my GT and i dont want to let her go into the tank if she is going to destroy it!

i know a 20g is to small. but its a temp. home. just to let her heal up and grow a little. should i not worry about the fins? they do grow back everytime.

I don't think their is a definitive answer....I have numerous GT's, maybe more then South America all totalled. Mine that are around the same size as yours nips a little bit on the plants but nothing major, and they really aren't big enough to disturb the landscaping all that much. It should be fine in the 20, but I don't know if you'll ever get a RD, JD and GT to live in harmony unless you have a foot print of at least 72x18 or 72x24......

oh they live in harmony just fine. the JD is really docile...the GT punks him if she chooses. but my GT is always bumping on the filter inlet and out-put. the other fish have never hurt her. is it normal for fish to tear their fins that much? i mean she has torn fins then in a week they are fine then torn again.

Guys in need some help!
You may get some more help here, in the "Planted" forum, since your question is about plant compatibility. Just something to consider when you post a new thread ... choose the appropriate forum, them you won't have to be impatient ;)
