Hello Everyone!

I currently have a 4" GT that laid eggs 2 weeks ago. She didn't eat for a week while she was protecting the egg site, which I assumed was normal.

After the unfertilized eggs started to turn, she went back to normal behavior, but still was not eating. I feed NLS and Hikari pellets, flakes, frozen and the occasional algae wafer (she normally LOVES them). But still nothing.

At that point I started seeing the long white stringy poop, and transferred her to a hospital tank. In the hospital tank, she became lethargic, belly started sinking, colors washing out. Since she was refusing food, I decided to treat the tank with PraziPro instead of food soaked treatments. After 3 days, her behavior and energy started normalizing but she was STILL refusing food and still had clear/white poop.

As a last resort, and last hope to get her to eat, I threw a couple guppies from my patio pond into the tank. Lo and behold, she gobbled them up without hesitation.

My question is, should I keep feeding her the guppies since that's the only thing she's eaten in weeks? If so, how often? I'm excited she finally ate something, but I was told that doing so would only hurt her digestive system without the veggie nutrients added.

For reference, Her original tank as well as hospital tank are running on year old cycled media, and water parameters are normal.

Thanks guys!

I'd keep feeding her guppies just so she can eat. I'd offer the food maybe once or twice daily just to keep her eating and healthy. I think your best bet is medicating the food. If you must, you may have to force feed her some medicated food

Ok awesome. Thanks for the input! If her appetite for the menu doesn't expand soon, I'll look to force feeding.

Thanks again!
