I have a GT and a Con in a 75 and this morning i woke up to see eggs on one of their caves! I'm pretty sure Cons and GT's can't breed, but maybe I'm wrong? I could've sworn they were both females but then again i could be wrong. My GT just swims by the eggs protecting them keeping the Con away.

Anybody know what could've happened?

I have a female Texas that kept laying eggs. Nothing ever happened with it though. I rearranged the tank and she quit. Sometimes a female will lay eggs just because the conditions are just right. Remember, fish don't think, they only go on instinct.

Female fish will lay eggs without a mate just like a chicken. If the GT is not letting the convict near it and the convict is a female then they are just infertal eggs. They will turn white after a few days and then the female usually eats them or they get mold growing all over them.
