My gt pair spwaned again..... i plit the xiloaensis male and female midas pair they were getting to rough so i put them in holding tanks untill the the gt eggs hatch so i split up the gt pair and start over with this tank.... the festae is now in the 150.. the male gt's color really popped this week I think due to spawning.... telll me what you think? sorry for the crappy pics i took these on my phone.. they do the fish no justice...

Great pics and fish bro. is that the only festae you have?? and its Female!!:) shes gonna be a stunner bro:)

I was told male by everyone a few days ago... but im not sure i just move it today heres a few pics of it before i moved it... I think the stress of the move has caused all the vertical lines to show...

Hmm very interesting. I notice the prominent spot in the dorsal fin which indicates female. males bars will fade into the dorsal but they dont keep a spot. the pic you just posted may be stressed out thats why her spot isnt prominent. but now i can see it even though its faded

I was also leaning towards male because it was the dominant one out of 7 that I had and just two weeks ago it killed its last brother.... the pics i posted first were after the move so its still stressed but the last ones were taken a few days ago when it was in tis normal colors also it has a lot of spangling on the fins my crappy phone pics dont capture it...

In the first set of pics youll notice the black spot in the dorsal. only females have the black spots. males can have a dark dorsal only due to his stripes fading into his dorsal and most of the dorsal will look to have black stripes running thru it. and they will come and go but with the female the spot will come and go. the festae i am seeing only has the spot not stripes running thru dorsal.

Know this, some populations of Female Festae will have blue spangles on the body but never will a male have a black spot on its dorsal. Still looks female to me. Congrats!

This is interesting im not sure anymore... the tank lights are off right now i will check tomorow in the morning to get better pics.... what i think you might be seeing is the stripes overlapping the dorsal fin but in the pic it does look like a spot but in person I can see more than one stripe overlapping it displays three lines overlapping....it could be the crappy camera... i tried venting when i moved him it looked like male but it is still small and I could be wrong...

Well you may have a point lol lets wait and see as it grows cause i know how pics and eyes can play tricks on all of us. if i were to see it in your tank myself i could give you a definite answer bro. im not trying to confuse you. the info that has been givin to you is correct but as for you festae determining another pic after it settles in more
